How to write an essay: Introduction, Body and Conclusion

 


An essay generally consists of three main parts: an introduction, a body, and a conclusion.  An essay is generally a short piece of writing outlining the writer's perspective or story 

1. Introduction

The introduction is the first part of an essay, which should grab the reader's attention and provide some background information on the topic. It should also clearly state the thesis or main argument of the essay.

2. Body

This is the main crux of essay. The body is the meat of your essay sandwiched between the introduction and the conclusion. The body of the essay is where you present your arguments and evidence to support your thesis statement. Each paragraph in the body should focus on a single point that supports the thesis. Additionally,  each paragraph should have a topic sentence that introduces the main idea of paragraph and supporting sentences that provides evidence. 

3. Conclusion 

The conclusion is the final part of the essay,  which summarise the main pointed in the body and reiterates the thesis statement.  It should also provide some final thoughts or recommendation on the topic.

Overall, an essay should be well organised,  easy to read and present a clear and concise arguments supported by evidence and examples.

Writing Tips

● Give your essay an interesting and appropriate title. 

● Keep it between 300-500 words. This is the ideal length, you can take creative license to increase or decrease it.

● Keep your language simple and crisp.

● Do not male grammar mistakes,  ues correct pronunciation 

● Before beginning the essay, organise your thoughts 

● Understand the topic throughly
